Sleepwalking through Life

Have you ever sleepwalked?

I never have. but I use to sleep talk. That sounds weird, right? It happens after an exciting or long day.

When you sleepwalk, or in my case sleep talk, you’re not aware. The only witnesses are those watching you experience it. People may never know they sleepwalk unless someone told them.

It’s easy to simply go through life sleepwalking. Wake up, go to work/school, go to bed, repeat. We wouldn’t realize how mundane the experience is.

Every. Single. Day.

But, we don’t have to live like that. Unlike going through the motions, sleepwalking is a monotonous way of living where everyone realizes the chasm you’re in except you.

Why? Because we’re sleepwalking.

The Bible even warns against sleepwalking in 1 Thess 5:6 (MSG) “So let’s not sleepwalk through life like those others. Let’s keep our eyes open and be smart.”

So how can we stop sleepwalking?

You need someone to guide you back and ask you what you’re doing or where you’re going. We can’t do life alone no matter how comfortable we think it makes us feel. Trust me, it’s not going to be easy opening up to people. Another prevention method is putting objects in our way to remind us about the random, lifeless living style.
